The
legalisation of same sex marriage has been a hot button issue across all levels
of politics in 2012, with divisions of opinion apparent even within political
parties.
But while
action at higher levels of government appears hard to achieve, a small number
of Victorian local councils are working to effect change in their community
One such
council is the City of Darebin, in Melbourne’s inner north. It has launched
a new Action Plan to advocate for the rights of its same sex community.
