Essential information
Coach: Chris Scott (2nd season)
2011 season: Premiers, 19 wins, 3 losses
Player changes
In: Jed Bews, Joel Hamling, Shane Kersten, Jordan Murdoch, Lincoln McCarthy, Orren Stephenson
Out: Mark Blake, Marcus Drum, Cameron Ling, Darren Milburn, Cameron Mooney, Brad Ottens
Players to watch:
Steve Johnson: Although he has curbed his sunscreen-swilling tendencies, 'Stevie J' is still an exciting player to watch. The very definition of mercurial, he has the ability to make anything look like he pulled it out of his arse.
Orren Stephenson: The Cats second very mature-age recruit in the last few years. May be asked to lead an inexperienced ruck division weakened greatly by the retirement of Brad Ottens, and somewhat less by the loss of Mark Blake.

Questions to ask Geelong fans:
- Isn't it lucky you kept faith with Tom Hawkins?
- Surely you can't win it again?
Questions not to ask:
- How many kids have you got now after your wins in '07, '09 and last year?
- After a 44 year drought, you've won three in five years. doesn't that mean your due for another lean run?
Prediction: Geelong don't seem to do as well in even numbered years, which may be the only blessing for their challengers. Year after year it is predicted that they will slide down the ladder due to an ageing list and retirements, and year after year they prove otherwise. While it would be mad to suggest a slide, they may struggle to maintain their consistent high performance, especially considering the quality that left the team after the 2011 Grand Final. However, with no real up and coming teams, the cats should easily challenge for the flag again. Top three
