Essential information
Coach: John Longmire
2011 season: 12 wins, 9 losses, 1 draw (7th overall)
Player changes
In: Tony Armstrong (from Adelaide), Alex Brown, Nathan Gordon, Jordan Lockyer, Tom Mitchell, Mitch Morton (Richmond), Tommy Walsh (St Kilda)
Out: Paul Bevan, Craig Bolton, Daniel Bradshaw, Dan Currie, Lewis Johnston, Tadgh Kennelly, Byron Sumner
Players to watch:
Gary Rohan: Another redhead with freakish skills and speed. Must be something in the genes. If Rohan can overcome consecutive injury-plagued season, he can form a deadly midfield partnership with fellow speedster Lewis Jetta. Hair clashes horribly with jumper
Sam Reid: The most exciting forward prospect in the AFL. Has vice-like hands and a great leap. If he can improve his goal kicking he will become one of the premier players in the game, or almost as good as his brother. GWS obviously recruited the wrong Sam Reid

Questions to ask Sydney supporters:
- Why do players go from average to very good when they are traded to Sydney?
- How much of a freak is Adam Goodes?
Questions not to ask:
- What do you think of GWS?
- Isn't 'The Bloods' culture a bit overrated?
Prediction: Every year people underestimate the Swans, because they go through seasons without too much fuss. No late night altercations, no on-field misdemeanours, nothing overly flashy. But despite never getting the high number draft picks, Sydney have put together a well balanced list, spearheaded by the evergreen Adam Goodes. The consistent way the Swans play, and their never say die attitude renders their tough draw almost irrelevant, and will see them playing finals again. Top six.
